Change Your Life
Good habits or bad habits – they can make us or break us. We can start out today with a goal for the year, or this month or this week or even just today … and if we manage our time efficiently – the sky is the limit for any or all of the above. Or we can not even make a plan and let the year, the month, this week, today – just fall into place as it sees fit.
If we go with making a goal and managing our time … no telling what could happen in any given period of time and that could be grand. If we go with making no plans and setting no goals, no telling what could happen in any given period of time and that could be disastrous.
What Are Your Plans?
Do Your Habits Match?
What will you be doing with the year or month or week or day that lays before you?
Will you make it the best it can be?
Will you accomplish much?
Will you be able to feel good about what you did accomplish?
Or will that time be wasted on not using it effectively and if so – will you feel good about that?
A Poem about Habits That Could Change Our Lives
I ran across this little poem below while studying a Franklin Covey book written by Hyrum W. Smith – called 10 Natural Laws of Successful Time and Life Management. Has this book changed my life? NO … But I sure love studying things like this. Reading and studying the Franklin Covey literature makes me feel powerful in a way. It makes me feel that no matter how unorganized my mind may be on any given day, that I can take the world by it’s horns and conquer all my problems.
I hope you’ll take time to read below and then how neat it would be if we all tried to come up with better habits – especially me and especially habits in the management of my time.
I Am Habit
I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest helper or your heaviest burden.
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.
I am completely at your command.
Half the things you do, you might just as well turn over to me,
And I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.
I am easily managed; you must merely be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want something done,
and after a few lessons I will do it automatically.
I am the servant of all great men
and, alas, of all failures as well.
Those who are great, I have made great.
Those who are failures, I have made failures.
I am not a machine, though I work with all the precision of a machine.
Plus the intelligence of a man.
You may run me for profit, or run me for ruin.
It makes no difference to me.
Take me, train me, be firm with me
and I will put the world at your feet.
Be easy with me and I will destroy you.
Who am I?
I am HABIT
